Why do I have to wait 72 hours to have an abortion in SD, but don't have to wait to buy a handgun?

Most people would think that killing a baby is a more important decision with larger consequences than making a retail purchase. BTW, most handgun purchases do not result in someone dying, yet ALL abortions do.
